Program Impact

Reep House for Sustainable Living

Our donors have helped us to continue making the Reep House for Sustainable Living available a key resource to help people in Waterloo Region learn to live sustainably.

The house itself is a great demonstration of how people can improve their own homes and includes truth windows, educational panels and interactive displays. It is also available through a virtual tour. Its educational benefits regularly attract tour groups from local schools and professional groups.
Increasingly, Reep House is coming alive as a community centre where people can come together to learn from experts and each other.

It hosts free educational events in three different series monthly. For example in the Coach Series, homeowners benefit from the expertise of our Home Energy Coach on topics such as how to finish your basement or from our RAIN Coach on rain smart home improvements such as how to design a healthy yard.

Having this community centre means we can help people live their day-to-day lives in a sustainable manner. In the spring, it hosted a presentation on electric vehicles and then held an Electric Cruise night that gave people the chance to meet owners of 20 different vehicles and check out several different models. And this fall, people learned about sustainable fashion while participating in a clothing swap.

We receive no direct funding from any government or foundations so that people can come to Reep House and learn how their decisions and actions can help our world be healthy.

The kids in your life deserve a chance to enjoy nature and have a similar quality of life that you have had. Our work as a local environmental charity is a critical piece of ensuring future generations benefit from how we live our lives today.
