Project READ Literacy Network is the umbrella organization of literacy and essential skills in Waterloo-Wellington. We are a dynamic community collaboration devoted to increasing literacy levels through our work.
We are a doorway to literacy and Essential Skills services. We develop, in collaboration with local Literacy & Basic Skills (LBS) agencies, training solutions to meet the literacy needs of our citizens. Our members include literacy agencies, ESL programs, libraries, employment training organizations, and other concerned individuals/groups.
We believe literacy and Essential Skills are necessary to function independently to reach an individual’s full potential. Literacy and Essential Skills include:
- Reading Text
- Document Use
- Thinking Skills
- Oral Communications
- Working With Others
- Computer Use
- Continuous Learning
Low literacy affects 1 in 4 adults in Waterloo Region. These people lack the skills to deal with everyday printed materials.
Please support Project READ initiatives & activities to improve literacy in our community.
