Together with our community, KW Habilitation inspires abilities to enrich the lives of children, youth, adults and families.

Program Story

KW Habilitation

KW Habilitation is a local not-for-profit organization that provides a wide range of individualized services and supports to children, youth and adults with diverse needs. A good life is fostered through preschool and early learning supports, respite services, residential services, community participation and employment supports.

Donation Impact

KW Habilitation has been inspiring abilities in the lives of children, youth and adults with diverse needs for over 40 years. Today, we support over 2,000 children, youth and adults each year.

Your contribution will help us inspire abilities and enrich lives. With your donation, we can do more to help people with disabilities lead fulfilling and purposeful lives as valued members of our community.

Let us know where you wish to designate your gift, on behalf of yourself or someone else as a gift in their name. Your gift will make a difference and create opportunities for increased self-worth, inclusion and dignity for the children and adults we support.

Affordable Housing Campaign

For many years, there has been a growing demand for affordable housing for families, couples or people who reside along in the Region of Waterloo.

Our 108 Sydney Street South, Kitchener location (former KW Habilitation Training Centre and administrative office building) is being redeveloped on the former industrial site! Construction has begun for a fully accessible 22-unit residential building overlooking Rockway Golf Course.

“The goal of this building is to provide affordable housing to people in need including people that are supported at KWH, into an intentional community housing model,” said Ann Bilodeau, Executive Director of KW Habilitation. “We want to develop a community where everyone belongs and participates by helping each other,” she said. “The goal is to have neighbours helping neighbours. We want this building to be very inclusive and be part of the community,” said Ann.

Housing is a fundamental part of life that many of us take for granted and by giving a voice to the great need within the Developmental Services sector is one way we can actively make a difference.

Our Farm

With two locations and plans for expansion, you can help this innovative horticultural project by donating to buy seeds, materials and tools to support the potential planting of over 9 acres. This program is supported solely through donations.

The Vibe

The Vibe is a social heart with a beat that provides essential social and educational day activities to over 100 adults on a daily basis. We have the very basics but still need to do more! Your gift will help buy materials and appliances for the teachable barrier-free kitchen and Grant’s Cafe, which helps adults with developmental disabilities to experience hands-on learning and opportunities to socialize, and most of all, feel included.

The Studio

The Studio is a special place for older adults to share their artistic gifts and express themselves in their own special way. Art, community activities and socializing is what makes The Studio a special place for the folks within. Your gift will help buy art supplies, increase services and provide more opportunities for community outings.

Residential Homes

Over 100 adults with diverse developmental and physical disabilities live in our group homes. We are able to meet the most immediate, urgent needs but many of our houses are in need of new roofs, updated and accessible kitchens and accessible bathrooms. Your gift will help us improve the quality of life of the individual we support through residential home improvements.
