The Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society (KWHS) believes every animal deserves a chance. We focus on what is in the best interest of the pet; building better communities rather than bigger shelters.
Community Education is a multi-faceted outreach program, ranging from in-school visits by a trained educator and their canine companion to on-site camps and clubs. We believe that by educating this generation of children and youth we will create future generations who more carefully steward our pets.
$37 sends one elementary student to our animal-themed PD day camp.
While camps and clubs are supported through registration fees, our Tales for Tails literacy support, Wellness Partnership, and In-School visits are funded entirely through donations. Humane Educators and their canine companions visit most elementary schools – public and Catholic – during the school year. Our reach is limited only by our funding. Donations to the Community Programs area provide fee assistance for children for camps and clubs; and provides financial stability to our educational outreach.
