We welcome our community to engaging spaces where people connect, ideas flourish, and lives are transformed.
The library envisions Studio Central to be a “hub” for multi-disciplinary digital learning. It will feature technology in 7 different disciplines: audio recording and mixing, video production, gaming and game development, 3D printing and design, virtual reality, coding and programming, and broadcasting and podcasting. Studio Central’s technology will be supported by dedicated staff, mentoring, instructional resources and workshops, all at no charge.
The long-term impact of Studio Central will be very significant – a game changer for the community. This project will:
- engage more than 5,000 youth (ages 12-25) in our programs annually
- allow the community to feel they have somewhere to belong, be safe, try new things and make new friends
- level the playing field by making access to digital tools and learning available to all community members for free regardless of economic status
- encourage the development of soft skills such as creative thinking, collaboration, and initiative that have a positive impact on people both immediately and long into the future
A donation of $100 provides 4 hours of programming/mentoring for 30 people. A $100 donation can also underwrite approximately $200 worth of digital technology. Naming rights are also available.
Donations can be made online at www.kpl.org/studiocentral.
