Proudly providing valued services for our community.
Borrow a book, lend a book. The Little Library is a wooden box located in parks or open spaces that are maintained by a volunteer—Little Librarians—who ensure appropriate reading material is available to the public, and that the libraries remain intact and full of books. Neighbours and community members are encouraged to borrow books, lend out their own, and share their love of reading. More Little Libraries are coming to your area soon.
A Little Library is a neighbourhood gathering place that encourages community connections and a love of reading. Little Libraries located in a park or open space create a connecting place for neighbours and encourages community members to be leaders. Everyone is welcome to borrow books from Little Libraries, which are located in numerous communities and neighbourhoods, which make accessible reading materials easy for people of all ages. This accessibility also helps boost literacy skills, and creates a positive learning experience within a safe community setting.
Donations of new or gently used books will allow community members of all ages to access reading material throughout the Little Library system.
Donating space on privately owned property will allow space for Little Libraries to be set up, and accessed by members of that community.
Anyone interested in adopting a Little Library can reach out to the City of Kitchener online.
